Huw Lewis-Jones was born and raised in Dolgellau North Wales. His father's work in the Royal Navy took him around the UK and to the Far East and then backto London.

During long periods of leave from the Navy Huw returned to live with his Grandparents in Dolgellau and he developed a passion for the landscapes of North Wales.

Huw says: "Painting has always been an important part of my life. When I'm painting North Wales landscapes I'm in a world of my own and it's a perfect counter balance to the stresses and strains of Hospital working life.

Capital of culture year, 2008, offered me fantastic opportunities and inspiration. I decided to turn my attention to the City of Liverpool's landscapes and capture images of the city at night."
